Sr. Manager - Marketing & Communications

Full Time – Woodstock, IL, US

Position Overview

This individual contributor position is responsible supporting tactical marketing plan execution for increased awareness, expert content development, and lead generation, as well as data analysis to assess market trends, sizing, share, and competitive landscape.  In addition, this role will handle internal communications to the business to provide consistent messaging and content.

Responsibilities

Marketing Plan Responsibilities – Tactical Execution

  • Work with senior leadership to translate business and marketing objectives into marketing tactics
  • Support execution of tactics to increase awareness and lead generation
  • Trade shows, seminars, customer events
  • Digital (webinars, social media, emails, etc) and other lead generation
  • Print, Graphics, Public Relations
  • Work with subject matter experts and external partners to expand and repurpose expert content library, including case studies, white papers, articles, interviews
  • Work closely with business development to ensure awareness of marketing plans and gather input for the development of effective sales tools.
  • Develop and ensure adoption and proper usage of sales tools.
  • Ensure accuracy and improve quality of web content
  • Support targeting campaigns, including authoring marketing messages for campaigns
  • Manage marketing budget
  • Develop reports and presentations for monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting
  • Create training materials for new service introductions

Communications

  • Work with senior leadership, especially HR and VP/GM, to develop content for internal communications including newsletters, townhalls and business wide communications
  • Build and advance WSS’ public image in ways that directly impact valuation, revenue, and employer branding
  • Support and execute PR and communications plans on major events and work closely with internal PR team on trade media (if you have someone specially on PR)
  • Support the development of external messaging tailored for specific external channels (recruiting, marketing, Public Relations, Investor Relations, social, leadership communication) and stakeholders to support aligned, impactful, and effective execution

 Market & Competitive Analysis

  • Support market landscaping and data generation and conclusions for strategic planning
  • Analyze the business, customer, and competitive environment on a continual basis
  • Work with available data sources for market analysis, including Global Data and Zymewire
  • Provide input into regular competitive and market trend updates
  • Participate in BD meetings to obtain customer insights
  • Attend tradeshows to gather competitive intelligence and customer insights
  • Maintain effectiveness of the Quality System components relevant to this position.
  • Other duties as assigned.
III.  Position Requirements:

 

Education or Equivalent:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Marketing Communications or Science related field. Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

  •  Minimum 5 years of marketing experience in life sciences

Knowledge/Skills Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and project management skills, and oral and written communication skills; Broad understanding of brand and product management principles
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak clear English.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Travel up to 25% required
  • Work with computer for up to 8 hours per day
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, talking, writing, listening
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds
