Nearly half of Woodstock, IL-based staff receive vaccination through partnership with McHenry County Health Department
Woodstock, IL, April 30, 2021 – Woodstock Sterile Solutions, a leading blow-fill-seal (BFS) contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), partnered with the McHenry County Health Department (MCHD) to vaccinate more than 200 of its employees for COVID-19 at its production facility in Woodstock, Illinois.
“COVID-19 continues to present a danger to people around the world. The number of infections remains high, and I am grateful that we had the opportunity to take this important step to ensure the health and safety of our employees, which is our number one priority,” says Woodstock Sterile Solutions CEO Paul Josephs. “I would like to thank the McHenry County Health Department for partnering with us to get this completed and the Illinois National Guard for coming to our site to administer the vaccinations. I would also like to encourage others to get vaccinated and to continue to follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines provided by the CDC [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention].”
After the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declared COVID-19 a Public Health Emergency, Woodstock Sterile Solutions developed a site Mass Vaccination Plan to provide vaccinations for all site personnel. The Company proactively reached out to the MCHD to get the vaccination event organized as part of the Strategic National Stockpile program, which encourages organizations from the private sector and government agencies to partner together to help get their employees vaccinated.
“Identified as a critical manufacturer, we were eligible to participate and hosted the mass vaccination event on April 6. We successfully administered 205 vaccines from the Illinois National Guard, and there were no adverse events reported from the members of our team, aside from mild side effects that we had expected,” says Jeremy Hirst, Site Security Leader and the event organizer.
